7 Reasons To Board Your Pet When You Travel

November 15, 2022

Are you going away for the holidays? If so, you’ll need to make plans for someone to take care of your dog or cat when you are gone. We would definitely recommend boarding. A local San Antonio, TX vet lists a few key reasons to opt for a kennel in this article.

Professional Staff

While having friends and family watch your dog or cat may seem like the easiest option, easy doesn’t always mean best. Things could get very ugly if something were to go wrong. And while a petsitter may be a convenient choice, you’ll need to give a stranger access to your home.

Medical Care

Pets with medical issues are definitely going to be safer in a kennel than they would be traveling. This is one benefit of boarding with your animal clinic: they would already have Fido’s records. It’s definitely better to be safe than sorry!

Less Stress

While many of our animal companions want nothing more to be with their humans, travel can be both scary and stressful for pets. Flying is particularly traumatic for many animals, and can be very dangerous in winter.

Comforts

Many kennels are quite luxurious and comfy these days. For instance, Fido may be able to enjoy doggy playdates, or perks such as extra treats or walks. Your four-legged friend may end up having just as much fun as you do!

Combine Services

This one is a specific perk of boarding with your vet. You may be able to get a few things done at once. If Fido is due for an exam, you may be able to schedule that along with boarding.

Safety

Traveling with pets is always a bit risky. If your four-legged friend were to get loose in a strange area, you would have a very difficult time finding him again. At the end of the day, your beloved animal companion will be safer in a spot where he is secured and under the careful supervision of professionals.

Peace Of Mind

Last but certainly not least, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy your trip, knowing that your furry companion is in great hands. Fido and Fluffy will be waiting for you with purrs, tail wags, and love when you get back!
