6 Great Reasons to Play With Your Cat Every Day

October 15, 2016

Do you play with your kitty regularly? If so, that’s great! Playing is actually great for Fluffy. Read on as a San Antonio, TX lists some great reasons to play with your cat every day.

Physical Activity

If there’s one thing we know about kitties, it’s that they absolutely love naps. Fluffy may rotate from spot to spot for her morning, midmorning, noon, afternoon, and evening naps, and then curl up with you when you go to bed. While your furball’s sleeping predilection is cute, it does make it easy for her to get out of shape. Playing is a great way to keep your sleepy pet from becoming obese.

Mental Stimulation

Even though cats really like doing absolutely nothing, even the laziest feline can get bored. Playing offers kitties valuable mental stimulation, which can help keep Fluffy’s mind healthy as she ages.

Calm Excess Energy

Do you have a fuzzy bundle of mischief on your hands? Does Fluffy keep you up at night by batting her toys down the hall after you’ve gone to bed? Play sessions can burn off some of your frisky pet’s excess zing, leaving you with a calmer kitty. After a fun game of catching toy mice, your furball may be more interested in curling up on your lap for some cuddle time than pouncing on your toes.

Bonding

Another great reason to play with your pet is that it will help strengthen the bond between you. If you have just adopted a cat, playing with her is a great way to help her feel safe, secure, and loved. Fluffy will know that you’re doing something for her benefit, and will repay you with kitty kisses and cuddles.

Build Fluffy’s Confidence

Is your kitty a scaredy cat? If so, regular play sessions may be very beneficial for her. Playing can help nervous kitties build confidence, just as scoring goals in sports can help shy children gain self-esteem.

It’s Cute!

Playing with your feline friend is a wonderful way to relax after a long day at work. It’s hard not to smile when watching a playful furball pounce on a fuzzy catnip mouse or chase after that pesky red dot from a laser pointer.
