There’s definitely no shortage of reasons to consider adopting your furry pal through a shelter. First and foremost, you’ll be giving that one sweet pet a loving home. Coming Home 

If possible, have everything ready for your new friend before you bring them home. Your shopping list should include toys, treats, bedding, dishes, and a pet first-aid kit. Dogs also need a leash and a good harness or collar, while kitties require a litterbox and litter. You may want to set your pet up in a quiet place for the first few days. Your new pal may sleep a lot at first: this is normal. Being in a shelter is very stressful and scary, so it’s normal for Fido and Fluffy to need time to relax and decompress. You’ll get those purrs and tail wags in no time!
