5 Reasons to Board Your Cat

May 1, 2021

Are you planning on leaving town soon? If you have a kitty, you may be planning to leave Fluffy at home, and perhaps have someone stop in to check on her. This is a pretty common practice with people owned by cats. However, you may want to consider bringing your feline buddy to a kennel instead. A San Antonio, TX vet lists a few reasons why in this article.

Loneliness

We may joke about how cold and aloof cats are, but that really isn’t true. Cats are actually very emotional, and they experience a wide range of emotions, including loneliness and anxiety. Some kitties get extremely distressed when left alone. Leaving Fluffy by herself too long can also lead to separation anxiety, which could be an issue in the future. In a kennel, your kitty may be away from her domain, but she’ll have company, and will have the sound and presence of other cats and people to soothe her.

Kitty Mischief

Our feline friends are known for being frisky and, well, a bit accident prone. Never underestimate Fluffy’s ability to wreak havoc, or get herself into shenanigans! This could become very dangerous if something were to happen while you were away.

Escape Attempts

This one may not apply across the board, but many of our feline pals do try to dash out when they can, and will seize the opportunity of an open door. A friend or family member probably is going to have a much harder time catching Fluffy than you would. This is a risk you don’t want to take!

Supervision

If you have a kitten or a senior cat, or if your furball has any sort of medical issues, then we definitely advise against leaving her at home by herself. Boarding is also the best bet for kitties that have to take any sort of medications. Play it safe, and make sure that your pet is being monitored and well cared for.

Purrs And Playtime

When you board your kitty, Fluffy won’t be just stuck by herself. The staff will pay attention to her and make sure she is comfortable and equipped with toys. Overall, it’s just a safer option for your furry best friend.
