Happy Mew Year’s Day

January 1, 2020

Happy New Year! Everyone knows that today is the first day of 2020. However, for our feline pals, the new year actually starts tomorrow. January 2nd is Mew Year’s Day: New Year’s Day for cats. Read on as a local San Antonio, TX vet offers a few thoughts on Fluffy’s special holiday.

Resolutions For Cats

If your furball could make resolutions, what do you think her goals would be? Fluffy may very well try to chase Fido out of the house once and for all. Or, she may vow to finally catch that elusive red dot. And, while health and fitness may be resolutions for many people, cats may very well go the other way, and spend most of the coming year eating, sleeping, lounging about, and sunbathing. Another option? Your pet may try to distribute her fur more evenly, and leave some in the places she didn’t get to this year. Of course, some kitties may want to work on their pouncing skills, improve their napping times, or try a few new sleeping configurations.

Resolutions For Pet Parents

While we may never know exactly what Fluffy’s resolutions would be, we can definitely suggest some for pet parents. One great resolution is to take time to play with your cat every day. Playing is great for our feline pals, both mentally and physically. You could also make a habit of picking up new toys for your kitty every week. Or, you could vow to keep the litterbox cleaner, or take your furry buddy to the vet a bit more often.

Resolution Inspired By Cats

What about resolutions that are inspired by cats? Well, that could go either way. You probably wouldn’t want to vow to leave dead mice on your loved ones’ doorsteps, or spend more time sleeping on their laps. However, you could decide to work on your flexibility, get more sleep, or spend a bit more time playing fun games. Fluffy can also inspire us to always look our best, and to enjoy life’s little luxuries, like good food, great views, and comfy beds. Of course, our feline friends can also inspire us to be loving, loyal, affectionate, and, at times, a bit silly.
