9 Fun Ways To Spoil Your Dog

August 1, 2019

August 10th is Spoil Your Dog Day! Of course, if you were to ask Fido, he’d probably insist that every day is Spoil Your Dog Day, and he wouldn’t really be wrong. Regardless, this is a great time to show your canine pal some extra TLC, and get that cute tail going. Read on as a San Antonio, TX vet lists some great ways to spoil your dog.

Toys

Making sure your furry buddy always has plenty of toys is very important. This will keep Fido active, entertained, and out of mischief. Pick up a new plaything for your pooch!

Treats

If there’s one thing that all of our canine patients love, it’s treats. Plain, cooked meat, fish, or chicken is always a good bet. Just be sure to remove the bones, skin, and fat. You can also give Fido a cold treat, like doggy ice cream. If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can make homemade doggy snacks. Look online for recipes.

Swimming

Does Fido like swimming? Take him to a dog-friendly pool or beach. Just keep a close eye on your pup, and never leave him unattended.

Kiddie Pool

If Fido can’t swim well (or at all), he can cool off on hot days is by splashing around in a kiddie pool. This can also make for some really cute photos!

Doghouse

Do you have a yard for your furry friend to play in? Make it more fun for him by adding a doghouse, sandbox, and/or outdoor toys.

New Bed

A new bed is definitely a great way to spoil your canine companion. (Tip: orthopedic beds are a great choice for senior dogs and large breeds.)

Adventures

Man’s Best Friend loves to explore new places, and conquer unfamiliar patches of grass. Take Fido to a doggy park, or explore a pretty trail with him.

Playtime

There are few things cuter than a frisky dog hard at play. Play Fetch with your pooch, or throw a Frisbee for him to catch.

Cuddles

Dogs are very loyal and loving, and really want nothing more than to spend time with their humans. Take Fido for a long walk, and then indulge him with lots of cuddles. Summer evenings are perfect for hanging out with dogs!
