Cute Ways to Spoil a Bunny

June 15, 2017

Have you recently adopted a bunny? Good for you! Floppy can make a very loving and adorable little pet. Bunnies are not hard to care for, but they do have some very specific needs. Read on as a local San Antonio, TX vet offers some great tips on how to pamper your pet.

Buddies

What’s cuter than one bunny? Two bunnies! Just be sure to pick Floppy’s playmate carefully. Make sure that both bunnies are spayed or neutered, and current on recommended vaccinations. Ask your vet for specific advice.

Hay

Hay may not be cute in and of itself, but a bunny eating hay is absolutely adorable. Fresh grass hay, such as Timothy hay, is crucial to both Floppy’s teeth and her digestion. There are some creative options for giving your furry pal her hay. You can stuff some into a paper bag. Or, put some in a shoebox for your bunny to nibble on.

Suitable Treats

There are many great options for bunny treats, including strawberries, carrots, apples, and blueberries. Just be sure to only offer your furry friend safe, suitable snacks. Some of the things to avoid giving Floppy are legumes, nuts, chocolate, seeds, yogurt drops, caffeine, tomato and potato leaves, corncob treats, and anything containing xylitol. Ask your vet for specific nutritional advice.

Toys

Toys are very important for Floppy, both mentally and physically. You’ll need to offer your furball plenty of fun playthings. Your bunny will also need lots of suitable chew toys, as if she doesn’t chew enough, she could develop dental issues. Ask your vet for more information.

Grooming

Many bunnies really enjoy being gently brushed by their human pals. Start by patting Floppy, moving in the direction of her fur. Then, slowly incorporate the brush. Just be sure to stop once your furry friend decides she’s had enough.

Play Area

Floppy will need at least a few hours of free time out of her cage every day. You’ll need to do some bunnyproofing, to keep both your pet and your belongings safe. Why not section off a certain room or area for Floppy? You can make it fun for her by adding a bunny playzone. Ask your vet for recommendations, including bunnyproofing advice.
