5 Things to Do With Your Pet in 2016

January 1, 2016

Happy New Year! Do you have big plans for 2016? If so, that’s wonderful, but sometimes little plans are great, too! Below, a local San Antonio, TX veterinarian offers a few great ideas for things you can do with your pet this year.

Photo Session

Get some great photos of your furry pal in the coming months. Use cute props or backdrops to snap adorable pictures of smaller furballs. If you have a canine buddy, get some fun outdoor shots of Fido. Tips: use the macro setting, rather than the zoom, to photograph smaller animals. If you’re taking outdoor photos, shoot at dusk or dawn to take advantage of that soft, golden light.

Playtime

Take time each day to really enjoy your furry pal’s company with fun play sessions. Use a laser pointer or wand toy to get your kitty moving, or play fetch with Fido. Even smaller furballs can be quite playful! This will be great for your four-legged buddy, and will also help you relax and reduce stress.

Cuddle

Life can get pretty hectic. Unwind with some quiet cuddle time with your furry pal. Let your pet snuggle you as you relax with a good book or movie at the end of a long day.

Veterinary Appointments

Ok, so maybe a trip to the vet isn’t exactly adorable, but your pet will definitely be much cuter with proper care. Bring your furball to the vet at least once this year for checkups and wellness care. Don’t forget about parasite control!

Make Some Toys

You don’t have to spend a lot of money to keep your pet entertained this year. There are lots of cute options for DIY toys you can make for your furry buddy. Whether you have a dog, cat, bunny, or smaller furball, you’ll find some great ideas for homemade toys online.

Create A Furball Fun Zone

It may be easier than you think to make your home super pet-friendly! If Fido has a yard, build him a doggy playground, or give him a kiddie pool to play in. If you have a kitty and a patio, activate Fluffy’s purr by making your patio into a catio. Just add kitty furniture, cat grass, and toys.
